Michelle graduated from Liberty University with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is now a Resident in Counseling and working toward a license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She believes in using a holistic (bio-psycho-social-spiritual) approach to counseling as well as creating a safe, non-judgmental environment. Michelle is committed to integrating evidenced-based treatments with each client’s spirituality, while respecting each person’s spiritual beliefs. She believes counseling is different for each person, and she partners with clients to reach their goals.
Michelle’s professional experience includes providing inpatient mental health services to children, adolescents, and their families through group and family counseling at Virginia Baptist Hospital’s psychiatric unit. In addition, Michelle has had the opportunity to counsel individuals through a local outpatient counseling center. Michelle is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing therapy, Trauma- Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, SYMBIS Premarital intervention, Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1), and she has completed course work with IAEDP, International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.
In her spare time, Michelle enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing piano, reading, volunteering in her local church, and challenging herself through triathlons and running events.
