Maryl Rozelle, M.A.

Licensed Resident in Counseling

Clinical Focus: Pregnant and Postpartum (Perinatal) Mothers and Caregivers, Substance Use, Missionary Care, Geriatric Clients, Mood Disorders, Life Transitions, Parenting the Love & Logic Way™

Therapy should be a safe and non-judgmental space to explore discomfort, difficult circumstances, and normalize getting help. Maryl views the counseling experience as a collaboration between the client and therapist. She takes into consideration the bio-psycho-social-spiritual impact of her clients' lives, integrates evidence-based treatments, and considers and respects each client’s unique perspectives and beliefs. She recognizes the need to sit in heavy feelings to better grasp our experiences and hurts so that we can then grow toward healing and wholeness.

A fellow mother herself, Maryl desires to work with the perinatal population (including mothers, caregivers, and partners) as they navigate the complexities, hurts, and blessings of conception, pregnancy, childbirth, and child-rearing through a holistic approach. Maryl has experience in both inpatient and outpatient intensive substance use services and wishes to continue working with those struggling with addiction on an outpatient basis. She recognizes the great need for mental health support for missionaries and expatriates such as life transitions, perinatal matters, parenting challenges, marital stressors, and acculturation. She has great admiration for those serving on the mission field through her travel experiences, mission trips, and close relationships with missionaries and wishes to bring that into her sessions. Her experience working at Virginia Baptist Hospital on multiple inpatient psychiatry units has provided a unique and rewarding opportunity to walk alongside those that struggle with deep depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and more. She looks forward to meeting each of her clients and learning the ways they are incredibly special and helping them grow.

When not working, Maryl enjoys filling her home with plants, spending time with her family, cooking, and traveling when she can.
