Clinical Groups and Intensives
Our clinicians have a variety of clinical specialties and often find that addressing clients’ concerns in a group format is very helpful. We regularly offer groups with a focus on depression, emotion-regulation and coping skills (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), anxiety, and even trauma. Some groups are open and allow clients to join at any time, others are closed and run for a designated period of time. EMDR groups are also available for clients with a referral from their counselor. These groups are one-day interventions using an evidence-based version of EMDR to address corporate trauma such as a school shooting or natural disaster or to address individual distress in a group setting.
EMDR Intensives: Dr.Suzanne Mikkelson also offers EMDR in an intensive, individual format for clients who are referred by their current clinician. These intensives are usually 2 or 3 days long, include 6-12 hours of therapy in addition to a pre-intensive interview. EMDR intensives are scheduled on a case-by-case basis at a time that is convenient for the client. These intensives are often a good choice for clients who want to work through a specific distressing situation or event in a cost-effective, time-efficient format.
Marriage intensives are also available from our Hill City staff. Couples who want to invest a weekend focusing on restoring or strengthening their connection can contact us for pricing, information, and scheduling. Marriage intensives usually involve a co-therapy team utilizing either Gottman marital intervention or Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy.
