Clinical Focus: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma (EMDR), Children, Adolescents and Adults, Premarital Counseling (SYMBIS), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Spiritual Issues
Makenna holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and is a Licensed Resident in Counseling. She is passionate about working alongside her clients to bring individual healing and restoration to interpersonal relationships by incorporating evidence-based counseling methods that also uphold important biblical truths.
Makenna’s love for the counseling profession began at a young age when she would see her parents provide lay counseling to couples in their church body. She has many cross-cultural experiences which is where her passion for counseling grew as she witnessed the great need for people all over the world to experience physical, emotional, and spiritual restoration from trauma, addiction and so much more. God used her experiences of working with refugees, orphans, and victims of sexual abuse and human trafficking to confirm Makenna’s desire to step into the counseling field and walk alongside individuals in similar situations regardless of the location.
Makenna is certified in Gottman Level 1 as well as Saving your Marriage Before It Starts (SYMBIS). She has experience counseling groups, individuals, couples, children, and families. Her counseling with these groups of clients included play therapy, rebuilding broken relationships, processing trauma, addressing personality disorders, ADHD and severe anxiety and depression. Regardless of the presenting problem or background of the client, Makenna aims to display professionalism, respect, and hospitality to all those who enter her office.
When not in session, you might find Makenna volunteering at church or adventuring with her husband and close friends. She loves ice cream and to travel around the world with her husband. They take any opportunity they can to visit their family in Southern California.
