Marcia Bretas holds a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and is dual licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner. She is certified in substance abuse counseling (CSAC) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Marcia has a multicultural background and can provide services in English, Portuguese, and Italian.
Her clinical experience includes in-person and telehealth services for individuals and groups from various cultural backgrounds, faiths, and ages. She has experience with addiction (substance use, alcoholism, and sex addiction), mood disorders, trauma, chronic illness, anxiety, ADHD, personality disorders, grief & loss, anger issues, life transitions, multicultural issues, and spiritual concerns.
Marcia is passionate about helping others improve their mental health so they may live a healthy life. She views counseling as an opportunity to grow, reflect on life situations, heal, find a purpose, and develop skills that help clients better handle relationships, emotions, and stress. She believes that connection, forgiveness, and compassion can restore broken hearts. Her approach to counseling is collaborative and holistic where body, mind, and soul are taken into consideration. Marcia aims to provide an empathetic, non-judgmental, warm, and attentive environment that produces personal growth and wholeness. Marcia offers a place for clients to feel comfortable integrating their faith, sharing pains and struggles in life, facing their fears, and developing self-compassion and resilience.
In her spare time, Marcia loves spending time with family and friends, scrapbooking, walking, going to the beach, cooking, helping the community, and traveling.
